Greaseless Compositions

LEA COMPOUNDS

Description
Lea Compound is a uniform mixture of high quality graded abrasive and glue in a greaseless bar form. It produces both a highly decorative efficiently functional ‘satin’ finish.

It offers a high degree of flexibility, extreme efficiency and virtually no distortion of the original component shape.

Uses
Satin finishing, deburring, buffing and flexible polishing. A wide range of Lea Compound is available based on aluminium oxide, silicon carbide, or a blend of graded abrasives..

AdLEAsive

Description
AdLEAsive is a bonding glue for use with Lea Compound. Generally referred to as "No: 3 Glue" it is black in colour for identification purposes, and unlike the Lea Compound range, is abrasive-free.

Uses
AdLEAsive's prime function is to act as an undercoat by preparing the mop for a more aggressive cutting action where a less flexible grinding operation is required, or to improve the cutting life of the Compound.

No: 3 Glue is particularly recommended for use on felt wheels or bobs. Felt wheels are made from compressed wool, which tends to retain much of its natural grease. No: 3 Glue has the ability to insulate this grease and provide the Lea Compound with a much improved base. It should be remembered not to allow the No: 3 Glue to be stripped back to the face of the felt wheel, as this will reduce the bonding properties of the Lea Compound and reduce the overall performance.

AdLEAsive No: 3 is also recommended when Lea Compound is used for stock removal, deburring or de-flashing or where sharp edges predominate.

GRAINLOCK Grade CS, HD, & GB and PLASTIGLUE 9222

Description
Grainlock cement is supplied as a ready to use viscous liquid.
It is non-toxic, has a low odour and can be used without pre-heating or pre-soaking.
Grainlock is highly stable and is not affected by temperature changes or prolonged storage.

Uses
Grainlock CS is a general purpose cement for use with grain sizes 180 to 320 or finer. Final drying condition is at least 16 hours at 65°C.

Grainlocks HD or GB are recommended for the most severe service, essentially for grain sizes 50 to 150. Final drying condition is at least 20 hours at 65°C.

Plastiglue 9222 is a "flexible bond" abrasive cement, giving greater flexibility for contoured components with significantly reduced vibration in use.

PLASTIBRADE

Description
LEA Plastibrade is a pre-mixed combination of abrasive and cement. Plastibrades are non-flammable, fast drying liquid abrasive compositions for flexible polishing and deburring on all metals and a wide range of plastics and wood.
Plastibrade Grey is available with aluminium oxide abrasives ranging in grit sizes from 60 to 120. It is particularly suitable for all fine satin finishing or where a low and even micro finish is required.
Lea Plastibrade Red has considerably more flexibility than LEA Plastibrade Grey and is available in aluminium oxide and fine powders in grit sizes 120 to 400

Unique to LEA is the SC (silicon carbide) range in 60 to 220 grits, for the finishing of duplex and marine stainless steels, titanium, and high performance nickel alloys such as inconel and nimonic.

Uses
De-burring, polishing and satin finishing. Available in a wide range of grain sizes, usually used on bobs and set-up wheels for scurfing operations.

Our technical representatives can advise on spray application of Plastibrade.
