Tripolea

2630
Tripoli Medium L Brown Medium NF C 7 7
Mostly suitable for flat brass components (low rake action).

2640
Tripoli Medium M Brown Medium NF C 7 7
Slightly greasier version of 2630.
2640T Tripoli Medium M Brown Medium NF C 7 7
Best for contoured components, good mop retention.
2468 Tripoli Medium M Brown Medium NF C 8 8
Very clean, gives good cut and colour.
2470A Tripoli Medium H Brown Medium NF C 9 7
Special binder gives extra mop retention for severe 'rake' action.
Ferrobrite
3050 FA Coarse H Grey Medium/hard F C or S 10 2
Slightly greasy. Good on very hard metals.
4040 FA Medium H Grey Medium/hard F C or S 9 4
Greasier and coarser than 2464. For use on sisals.
2464 FA Medium M Grey Hard F C or S 8 6
Very popular. Good all round performance. Clean in operation having a good colour.
 Britelea
 2755  CA  Coarse  H  Yellow  Soft  F or NF  C or S  9  5
High cut particularly where high 'rake'. Use sisal - tampico or ventilated buffs.
 2076  CA  Medium  M  White  Medium  F or NF  C or S  8  6
Gives good cut and colour on cotton or sisal mops.
 2000D  CA  Medium  M  Green  Medium  F or NF  C or S  7  7
The most efficient cut & colour bar because of its unique abrasive qualities.
 312  CA  Fine  L  White  Medium  F or NF  C  5  8
 Finishing bar with some cut.
 309  CA  Fine  L  White  Hard  F or NF  C  4  9
Finishing bar possessing very good colour.
 FF (Fine Finishing)
 2445  CA  Very fine  L  Dk. Green  Hard  F or NF  C  4  9
 FF9  CA  Very fine  M  White  Medium  F or NF  C  3  10
 FF11  CA  Very fine  M  White  Medium  F or NF  C  3  10

Abrasive Types
Tripoli A soft abrasive normally used on non-ferrous metals
Calcined Alumina (CA) A hard abrasive, many different grades of hardness & particle sizes. Used on both ferrous and non-ferrous metals
Fused Alumina (FA) A very hard & tough abrasive, normally used on ferrous metals

Binder Content
H High binder content necessary for heavy cutting operations (high metal removal). The binder is used to hold the abrasive particles onto the buff face
M Medium binder content is normal for compounds used for medium metal removal but results in good brightness
L Low binder content for finishing compounds, giving high brightness & clean components

Type of Metal
Ferrous (F) Steel or stainless steel or any metal containing Iron
Non-Ferrous (NF) Metal which does not contain Iron such as Copper, Brass, or Aluminium.

Type of Buff
S Sisal - used for high metal removal on ferrous metals
C Calico - used for all applications except where very high metal removal is needed

Cut (metal removal): Scale 1 increasing to 10
1 Very low metal removal typical of a high colour (brightness) compound
10 Represents a very high metal removal compound & would be associated with correspondingly low colour.
Colour (brightness): Scale 1 increasing to 10
1 Very low colour (brightness) associated with a high cut compound
10 Represents very high colour but will result in correspondingly low cut
Note: The degree of cut & colour are assessed on non-ferrous metal in the case of Tripolea formulations and on ferrous metal in all other cases.
